Intro to Tarot
This workshop will explore tarot from the very beginning. It's aimed at those who have never used tarot at all or have a very limited knowledge. In the three hours, you'll uncover the differences and relation between the Minor and Major Arcana, break down the archetypes of the cards, introduce some basic spreads, and explore ways in which we can work towards learning the card meanings. Spellcrafting
This workshop is focused on Spellcrafting. A spell is just another way to describe what is essentially a wish, a prayer, or manifestation. You don't need any previous knowledge or experience whatsoever. If you've been curious about the actual practice of witchcraft and what that entails, then this is the workshop for you. You'll learn how and why we create a sacred space for ritual, how to use energy and intention, discussing different types of spells and various methods we can use to cast our spells. Intro to Astrology
For those curious about the basics of astrology and applying the planetary knowledge to their own natal chart. We will look at the different houses and planets and how they affect your own personal chart. We'll also explore how to read a natal chart for yourself and others, covering signs, houses, planets, and aspects. No previous knowledge is required, as this is aimed at those new to natal charts and astrology. Please have your time of birth handy in order to generate an accurate chart. Advanced astrology
Prerequisite: Introduction to Astrology Workshop
This workshop is the long-awaited follow-up to Introduction to Astrology workshop. Advanced Astrology goes in-depth to the framework of any astrology chart: covering classical and modern interpretations of the houses, their classifications and importance in charts. Herbology for Ritual & Magick
For anyone interested in the use of herbs in magickal practices. This workshop will serve as an introduction to the study of herbology, with specific focus on using herbs for ritual and magickal purposes. We will look at the history of herbology and the various ways in which we can use herbs in our own personal practice and rituals. Moon Magick
The Moon Magick workshop is based around exploring the different phases of the moon, and the moon as it transits the different signs. This workshop looks specifically at using the energies of the moon in spellcraft and ritual, as well as our emotions around those times. We look at how we can best use these energies in our daily lives and spiritual practice. We will also look at the history of the moon and explore the Triple Goddess phases as they relate to the moon. Dream Realms & Shadow Work
This workshop delves into the subconscious by exploring our dreams. We'll start by covering different types of dreams, lucid dreaming, dream interpretation and dream recall before diving into shadow work. You'll learn what the shadow is, and why this is not something to fear, how we can identify it, and most importantly start to integrate shadow for deep healing and growth. Grounding Workshop
Saturday 19th July at 7pm
A solid grounding practice is a key component of any witch’s routine, and is becoming an increasingly vital part of wellness in the modern world. Join one of our shop witches, Sarah (The ADHD Witch), for a deep dive into the practice of grounding, where we will explore a range of mundane and magical grounding techniques, learn how to use grounding crystals and herbs, and look at how astrology affects our ability to ground. You will also make your own grounding charm pillow, learning how to select a mix of ingredients that work for your specific grounding needs and goals.

Leo New Moon Gathering
An in-person new moon circle hosted by Black Moon Botanica shop witches at our beautiful Thistle St. shop.
Join us for an evening of intention setting as we guide you through the themes of the current new moon. Sharing your intentions with a group is a beautiful way to add power to them, and our circle is a fantastic way to share that power with a group of like-minded witches.
We will gather in circle to explore the energies at play during this new moon. A specially chosen herbal tea blend will be provided to sip as we pull oracle cards to help guide our intention setting for this new moon cycle. There will then be space to share your intention with others.
Following this, we will all make a sigil from our names to act as a symbol of the power we all hold within. Learn how to create and charge your sigil and how you can use it throughout this cycle and beyond, as a focus of your personal power and as protection from uninvited energies. You will also get shop witch Matilda’s favourite crystal, Tiger's Eye, to take away with you.

Art Witches Gathering
Weave magick into your work, as we focus our intentions together. A space for Art Witches to connect with others, set intentions, share practices, and dedicate some regular time to our magical art.
Bring your current project (if it's portable!) or take advantage of the seasonal prompts to spark inspiration.
Herbal tea, Intention setting, Goal check-ins, Accountability, Support from others as we create together.
A small selection of art supplies will be available (drawing pens, watercolour paper, sketching pencils, colour pencils etc) but please feel free to bring your own pens, pencils, sewing supplies, wool, other...No paints except watercolours please.

WINE & TAROT PRIVATE EVENT
Indulge in a bit of ritual di-vin-ation with a private after-hours evening for up to 8 querents. You’ll each get a tarot reading & accompanying witchy wine tasting, in between which you can browse Black Moon Botanica’s trove of occult treasures & witchy necessities.
Email to enquire with proposed date(s) and number of attendees*. Evenings start after the shop closes - 6:30PM at the earliest, and run for 1-3 hours depending on number of attendees.
Wine provided is based on number of attendees and your group’s preferences (red, white, rosé, sparkling; non-alcoholic alternative on request)
Base package is £100 for 2 people+£25 per additional person. Cost includes readings, wine & materials. Any Black Moon Botanica purchases are separate.

Seeking community and a way to unwind? Join fellow Edinburgh witches for a social gathering under the waxing moon, with a goblet of wine in hand.
£5 entry fee. Ticket fee covers the cost of wine for the event. Attendees must be 18+, please bring photos ID with you.

A Writing Group for Witches
Join us in-person and online, for the opportunity to share your creative goals and intentions with a like-minded group; to indulge in peaceful writing sessions in a beautiful setting and to hone your ideas - with a pinch of witchcraft and some divination techniques to guide you (from yours truly). Each session will include time to share what you are working on, some tips on how to and the option to try to incorporate witchy aspects into your writing practice. A short guided visualisation to help you to 'drop-in' and write. A chunk of writing time (and herbal tea)*
Closing the session with another brief sharing and some intention setting for the month ahead. These sessions welcome anyone with a passion for writing, regardless of: experience, gender, talent, sexual orientation, skill, race, spelling, confidence, introvert status or brain fog. The only conditions for attendance are that we show each other the respect and kindness we deserve.

Get to know your birth chart
Join Shop Witch Màiri for this hands-on workshop, exploring how the positions of the planets illuminate your life.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners to astrology as well as anyone who has seen their birth chart and feels a bit overwhelmed by it. We will look at the zodiac signs, houses, and traditional planets, with a focus on intuitively recognising what these things mean for you.
You will take home a simple version of your birth chart constructed by yourself, and a personalised information booklet.
Limited to four participants. You will need to know your time of birth to get the most out of this workshop.
