Seasonal Door & Queue Assistant

Contract: Seasonal, fixed-term

Hours:

- Short shifts (4–5 hours)

- Typically weekends and peak trading times

- Approx. 2–3 days per week at our Candlemaker Row shop

About the Role

We’re looking for friendly and reliable Queue & Door Assistants to support the shop during busy periods.

You’ll manage the customer queue outside the shop, keeping it organised, safe, and welcoming. This role is key to creating a positive experience before customers even enter, while also maintaining good relationships with neighbouring businesses.

You may also provide brief shop-floor cover during busy periods, including basic till use during staff breaks.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and organise the customer queue outside the shop

- Ensure access to neighbouring businesses is kept clear

- Communicate wait times and answer basic questions

- Maintain a calm, friendly presence at all times

- Welcome customers and support smooth entry into the shop

- Provide short shop-floor and till cover when needed

- Direct more complex queries to the team

About You

- Friendly, warm, and approachable

- Confident speaking to the public

- Calm, patient, and clear in communication

- Comfortable standing outdoors for extended periods

- Reliable and punctual

- Retail experience is helpful but not essential - attitude and communication are key.

- This role is well suited to someone with a background in theatre, performance, or similar, who is confident engaging with the public.

What We Offer

- £13.50 per hour, approximately 10-15 hours per week (Real Living Wage Employer)

- 20% staff discount
